Through my writing, I work to advance food systems change from the bottom up: empowering eaters to align their food choices with their values, through easy-to-understand, evidence-based guidance about the health, social, and sustainability dimensions of food. (Learn more about this work here, including my latest book, "How to Be a Conscious Eater.") Collectively, by voting with their grocery baskets and their forks, eaters can help send demand signals to the marketplace that can drive changes over time.
But people are products of their environments, and the onus can't be on individuals to transform food systems on their own.
Through my consulting, collaborative leadership, and speaking, I work to advance food systems change from the top down: helping companies, institutions, city leaders, and other public agencies improve what types of foods are offered in the first place, in order to create the enabling environments for the dietary shifts that are urgently needed--and that can catalyze innumerable co-benefits for both human and planetary health.
